SPECIAL THANKS TO: Richard, Hans, Jack, The Hypocrites, and Bruised Orange for making the weekend such fun.

This exploration of the work of German playwright Herzlichen Gluckwunsch Zum Geburtstag is of rich historical importance and speaks volumes about the complexity of the whole tapestry of human experience. The Corsage, The Lamp, and The Quilt were all written between noon and three in the afternoon on August 17, 1922.

They were vital influences on the Surrealists and Absurdists that followed - many believe that The Corsage was the primary inspiration for Waiting For Godot. Unfortunately, Geburtstag died on August 17, 1922 at three in the afternoon. Many believe he committed suicide as there was no obvious reason for Geburtstag to have his head in the oven and it is "unlikely" he would not have realized the gas was on. However, it is well known that Geburtstag enjoyed writing while in a state he called "The Fuzzies" which was often brought on by gasses of various types or a light jog with a belt around his neck. Who knows what other masterworks he was cooking up when the gas finally overtook him?

American Stage Sessions: History of World Drama Part 156 explores these rarely performed works and probes them for deeper meaning. You too can explore the symbolism behind Mortimer's pickle train, Edna's banana baby, and Abby's mother's dogs.

NOTE: There is not, nor has there ever been such a person as Herzlichen Gluckwunsch Zum Geburtstag.

Living the Dream is an original comedy about being struggling artists in this new century: the bad plays, awkward auditions, dead end jobs, one's own clumsiness, naïveté, and doubt. A show for anyone who's ever pursued a dream and come up a bit short.

Lindsay and Katie had always said they wanted to write something about their experiences as actors in Chicago. When the rights for Last Train To Nibroc were pulled, the group adopted their idea and ran with it. Chronicling the chronically embarrassing lives of five unknown Chicago actors, the show was thinly veiled biography, absurd satire, situation comedy, and heartfelt confessional all rolled into one, written by the ensemble.

Last Train to Nibroc

Sadly Last Train to Nibroc was never preformed due to the rights being pulled before the production. The upshot was that it lead to the writing of Living the Dream and the birth of the Plagiarists

  Danger Dance

What's So Dangerious About Dancing?

A dance contest/fundraiser/evening of fun at Danny's. DJ Nek & DJ Poly-Semi (also a board member, she has many talents?) spun new wave and old-school hip-hop while hopeful hoofers hot-footed away. Andrea won the trophy, Kevin got second place, but Jen Messer, birthday girl, really showed us all how dangerous dancing could be. Beats, beers, baked goods and booty-shaking were enjoyed by all.

Check out these photos from the party. Wish you were here.

Built To Steal

An evening of music, food, & trivia at The Bad Dog Tavern celebrating our coming-out as The Plagiarists. Helen Money rocked out on her cello and Adam Fitz played a solo acoustic set. Our Plagiarist Trivia contest showed we have a lot of work to do in educating the public in the history of our great profession. Thanks to all who came for a lovely evening.
