See Batman in his very first adventures from the Golden Age, as he was originally conceived: a mysterious, dark nemesis of crime, driven my some inner demon.

This evening will feature readings of stage adaptations of the first stories of one of the greatest fictional characters, focusing on plot and character rather than stunts. See the origins of the the brooding figure we know today.

“Salon of the Heart” featuring special guests and curated by Sara McCarthy Calling all artists and intellects, curious minds and creative types - your presence is requested at our (un)Valentine's Day Salon! Conversational and artistic salons were originated as a way to bring together people with a passion for Ideas. Come participate in a theatrical re-creation of a traditional salon as our hostess gathers a slew of talented guest artists to explore creatively and discuss the question: What is your expression of passionate non-romantic love? What is it to passionately love a person, place, thing, event, experience that is not a traditional "Valentine," per se? See what these artists feel inspired by and infatuated with and bring your own ideas of what non-romantic loves sustain you and deserve to be celebrated! There promises to be an explosion of music and literature and dancing and storytelling and poetry and, of course, candy.

Performed by Lacy Katherine Campbell (Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Redmoon Theater), Alex Goodrich (Chicago Shakespeare, Barrel of Monkeys) and Heather Simms (ComedySports).

Directed by Laura Grey (Second City ETC, Barrel of Monkeys) and written by Lacy Katherine Campbell, with visuals by Brandon Campbell (Laika’s Coffin, Adventure Stage Chicago) and Lacy Katherine Campbell, music by Alex Goodrich.
